Gloucester Amateur Radio and Electronics Society

Visit by OH2LRD

Marko Saarela (OH2LRD) visited us this week. He is, amongst other things, president of the OI3W Club Station in Riihimaki Finland. Riihimaki is about 50Km north of Helsinki and headquarters of the Finnish Signals Regiment. He informed us that Riihimaki has two radio clubs. The army club has about fifteen members and the other club has about sixty. In total, Finland has about 6000 radio amateurs from a population of about 5 million. Despite telling us that Finland no longer goes in for DF hunts, he enthusiastically took part in ours - coming second!
