GARES Winter 2026 Challenge - Pick a Band & Mode

Objective:
To work as many DXCC, on a band and mode of your choice, as you can manage from the below selection. To level the playing field for Foundation licensees more credit is given for contacts made by those licence holders as detailed below. Entry is simple. Just send an email when you've have something to report.
Although we will keep score the Challenge is not intended to be a contest but will enable results and experiences to be shared amongst participants. Awards certificates will be given to leading stations in their respective sections.
The contest is open to GARES club members only
Timescale:
Starting at 0001 hours on Sunday 8th February 2026 and finishing at 2359 hours on Tuesday 31st March 2026.
Bands:
Any one band. 160 mtrs through to 10 mtrs. 60 mtrs and 30 mtrs are excluded.
Power and Modes:
25/100/>100 Sections, although the level does not effect the points earned other than detailed below.
Any one mode from CW, SSB or conventional Data modes. No Ftn etc. Only the above bands are allowed. Contacts should involve, as a minimum, an exchange of reports. Contest contacts are not allowed.
Scoring:
One point will be given for contacts made with each DXCC. Extra points can be had by working different prefixes within a DXCC. For example. PA,PI,DK,DL etc.
Points for contacts made by Foundation licence holders will be tripled.
